Recently, I had the privilege of working with Ben Grey over at D123 to help him create this video. My involvement wasn’t technical, it was mainly some art direction for the layout. I’m quite impressed with the final version and what Ben did.

Cardinal School Mascot

Yet again, I want to share another project that never became a realty. I was contacted about some proposed work, haven’t been hired yet, but had a moment of inspiration and decided to run with it and drew this logo mascot. The district incorporates a star into all of the school logos but didn’t have one for the high school. They use a traditional cardinal mascot that I felt could use some updating. Here is my solution.

Lion Logo Sketch

A while back I explored some logo concepts for a coastal church. The logo was to show a lion and water. Specifically, a winged lion representing St. Mark’s lion

The solution I came up with was to have the wings on the lion look like waves behind him. Sadly, the concept only made it as far as a quick hand drawn sketch.

Pohlmeier Family Branding

Mostly out of boredom and the need to create some artwork that is all my own, I’ve decided to try and brand my family. I’m going to start off with each individual. I started off with Gus, our dog. He’s a German Short-haired Pointer. With this design, I wanted to display the fact that he’s a pointer and to try and show by the angles how solid and still his point is.

Porcupine Mountains

Last weekend I went hiking with some friends up north. The Porcupine Mountains in Michigan is where I called home for a few days and nights. Ben Grey and I lugged camera equipment (something I vowed to never do again from another trip). It’s worth it when you get home.

Sky Photos (iPhone)

I’m a bit obsessive about taking photos with my iPhone. I used to swear by Hipstamatic. Now, I’m on a bit of an Instagram kick. With either app, I love taking photos of the sky. It varies so much. The colors, the clouds, the light, etc. Here are some of my favorites.

Inspiration can be found in so many different things. I don’t ride a motorcycle, I don’t really plan on ever riding one either. However, I stumbled upon this website one day and was in awe of how nice these bikes look. If I ever were to build or design a motorcycle it would look like one of these.
